How lucky am I?

On Thursday evening, October 15th, I had my third bridal shower. My Aunt Trish and my Cousin Alix on my dad’s side of the family threw it for me. Nicol came and met me at work and we headed out to Alix’s house in Minnetonka. My Aunt Trish, Great Aunt Floss, Cousins Alix, Amy, Katie, Anner, Courtney, Pam, and baby Jackson were all there. In addition, my mom, Aunt PJ, sister, and Jason’s mom were all there, as they were required to attend all three of my showers! We played a really fun game that Courtney put together matching up celebrity couples. I of course won, as I am a wealth of useless celebrity knowledge! After that game, everyone played the “Kellee Trivia Game”…it is always so much fun to hear the answers that people come up with!

Then I opened presents, which let’s not kid ourselves is always fun! Everyone has been so generous and I feel so lucky to have so many amazing people in our lives to celebrate with us. One of the presents brought me to tears when I opened it. Jason’s mom had Jack frame our invitation for me and it turned out so beautiful!

Another present brought me to tears, but because I was laughing so hard. Katie got us the awesome cooler on wheels that we registered for and after I unwrapped it, she said there was something inside. As I was opening the cooler, she told us that the additional present was actually something they had gotten as a present at some point and she was re-gifting it to us. It was some beer mugs and as I opened up the box to look at the mugs, I saw there was something else inside. It was a menu and gift cards from Steak and Ale, which has been closed for at least a couple years. Now, that is funny…thus eliciting some tears of laughter!

After everyone had left, Nicol, Courtney and I were bringing the presents out to the car. We made the mistake of leaving the door open and we came back inside to Trish holding a rake and Scott holding a net. A bird had flown in and was having a hard time figuring out how to get back out. Nicol captured it all on camera!

Thank you so much to everyone for the amazing shower…I can’t wait to celebrate with all of you at the wedding!!!

Another Bridal Shower!!!

I have said it before on this blog and I will say it again…I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such amazing friends and family!!! On Saturday, October 10th my sister, Lesley, and Madison threw me my second bridal shower. It was such an amazing time and I am so grateful to them for throwing such a great party…not to mention all of the awesome friends and family that came and made the night a great time!

Nicol, Lesley, Madi, and I got together on Friday night and Lesley and I decided that we needed to go shopping the next morning, so I headed over to her house in the morning and we ran up to the Mall of America for a little bit. I headed home after I dropped her off to shower and get all my stuff together because we decided that we would get ready over at Lesley’s house. Nicol picked me up around 1:00 and we put everything in the car and headed over. The shower was supposed to start at 6:00, but we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to relax and get ready. Around 2:45, I decided to get started on my hair…not because my hair takes 3 hours to do, but because I wanted to be able to “take breaks” in the getting ready process. Some might say that this is a really lazy way to get ready, but it turns out that it is a really good thing that I was being lazy because once I decided to my hair, I realized that I had left all of my makeup at my house! So…I had to drive all the way back from Lesley’s house in Minneapolis to our house in St. Paul and then all the way back! Genius move, huh?!?

Friends and family started arriving around 5:45 and there ended up being about 20-25 people there! We ate delicious food, drank delicious drinks (I always forget how much I like White Russians!), played the “Kellee Trivia Game,” opened amazing presents, and got to spend time talking to a bunch of the amazing people I am so fortunate to have in my life!

One of the gifts from my mom was one of the things that I had registered for, actually with her in mind. It is a Bundt cake pan shaped like a turkey and, as you can see in the picture, I think it is one of the funniest things I have ever seen! They actually come in all sorts of shapes and I think that I might make cakes in the shape of tacky things my new “thing.” I bet you can’t wait to invite me to a party now to see what kind of tacky shaped cake you will end up with!

Nicol ended up bringing me home around 1:30am and we called Jason when we got there to come out and help us bring everything inside…he was super thrilled about that! LOL!!!

Thank you sooooo much to everyone that came to celebrate and an even bigger thank you to Nicol, Lesley, and Madi for throwing the party…you guys are the best friends a girl could have!!!

There’s no turning back now…

It is official! On Thursday we received a phone call from Kent at the Nomadic Press (who is AWESOME by the way) that our invitations were ready. Jason went and picked them up and I made the phone call to my sister, Mom, and Jason’s parents to sell them on the idea of how much fun it would be to have an “invitation putting together party!” Luckily, they played along with my idea and we all got together on Friday night at the Jaglo’s to put the invitations together. You may not think that it is such a big deal to put together invitations, but there are multiple steps involved in the process…put the address label on the main envelope (I was going to write out everyone’s name and address, but that idea got nixed as soon as I realized how many invitations were being sent,) put a return address label on the main envelope, put stamps on the main envelope, put an address label and stamp on the RSVP envelopes, number each of the RSVPs to correspond with who the invite is being sent to (just in case anyone forgets to write their name on the RSVP card…yes, a little neurotic, but pretty organized if I do say so myself,) put the invites together, seal the envelopes, and then go through each invite to make sure that everyone on the list had an invite (twice…sorry Cole!) Because we all worked as a well-oiled machine, we were able to go through the whole process in two short hours! And…there was only one small Bridezilla moment from me. After we had put everything together, sealed, and stamped everything we had 4 invitation stamps left, but only 2 RSVP stamps left. I will admit that I definitely sounded a little Bridezilla, especially over 88 cents worth of stamps, but I am still really confused about what happened to those two stamps. Seriously…stamps don’t just disappear! LOL!!!

Thank you for all the help Nicol, Mom, Chris, and Jack!!! And thanks to Chris for making us awesome chicken noodle soup for dinner (and for taking pictures for me!)

We considered stopping at the mailbox on our way home, but it was raining and dark and Jason and I were by ourselves. I know you are thinking, “uhhhh, so?” Well…I wanted to make sure that we memorexed the moment mailing out the invites like we did when we mailed out the Save the Dates, so we waited until Saturday to mail them out so Nicol could capture the moment for us!

Thanks for memorexing the moment Cole!

Now it is Tuesday, and I am assuming that people should be receiving them today or tomorrow if they live locally and in a couple days if they are out of state. I am super excited to start getting the RSVP cards back…I love getting mail that isn’t bills!!!
