Welcome to our wedding blog!!!

If you are reading this, it means you received your “Save the Date” in the mail and are here to check out the website printed on the magnet. We started this blog as a way to document the whole wedding planning process, as we have been told that the small details are easy to forget with all of the chaos. If you want to go back in the previous blog entries, you can learn a little bit more about us, how we met, how Jason proposed, and some other info about the wedding plans we have made so far. Feel free to leave comments after any of the posts, we like to know that you were reading it and would love to hear from you (even if it is just to say hello!)

I have been trying to update the blog at least every other week, so check back often to see if there are any updates. We will be posting info about the hotel for those traveling to come to the wedding, info on the people in the wedding, and other adventures along the way of planning our wedding. We are very excited to see you on November 28th!!!

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the day that Jason proposed! We have been working on our “Save the Dates” for the last month or so and we finally had most of the addresses that we needed in order to get them sent out, so we figured what better day to send them out then our engagiversary?!? We spent the night making sure that everyone on our list had an envelope. Jason read the name to me and I would mark it on the guest list spreadsheet and read him the address to make sure I wrote it correctly.

My writing can be a little swirly and hard to read at times, so Jason mangled a couple of the names, which I would laugh at. Jason took this as a cue to mess up everyone’s name and the process took longer than expected because I was laughing hysterically at him!

When we were all done, we had to Memorex the moment. We couldn’t quite figure out how to best do it, so let’s just say that a lot of test pictures were taken. This was the best one:

I asked Jason if he thought we should mail them together or if I should just bring them with me to work tomorrow. He said that we could run them up to the post office right then. I don’t think he was aware that I would actually want to do that at 9:44 pm on a Monday night. I am also guessing that he didn’t realize that I would make him pose for a bunch of pictures while we put the “Save the Dates” in the mailbox. It was kind of a big moment though, we had to capture it, right? The pictures didn’t turn out quite as well as I would have thought, but hey, they were taken on a street in St. Paul late on a Monday night with cars driving by constantly…what can you expect? We did get the job done, my only concern is that the “Save the Dates” are magnets…I hope none of them stuck to the side of the post office box!

Now I can check that off of the list!

Our visit to Rush's Bridal did not go the way that I had thought that it would, which turned out to be a very good thing! The dresses there were really fu-fuey and not at all my style. I actually didn't like a single dress that I tried on, so it was easy to cross it off of the list! The bright side is that I didn't add to the list of three dresses that I already liked, the not-so-bright side was that I still had three dresses to choose from. I printed out pictures of myself in all three dresses and solicited opinions from multiple people, including some random people on the patio at Billy's on Grand where Nicol, Lesley, and I went for happy hour after the horrid experience at Rush's Bridal. After much time spent looking at pictures, imagining our wedding day, and getting equal votes from people on which dress I should choose, I couldn't make a decision...it was too hard! As you most likely already know, I am not the most traditional person in the world, so I decided to just ask Jason. Bad luck, schmad luck!!! He had already seen pictures of me in the multiple dresses that I tried on, so I figured he might as well see them one more time and make the decision so that I didn't have to!

He did the whole "you look great in all of them" lip service that as a man he is required to do, but ultimately said that his favorite was the one from the Wedding Shoppe. So that settled it. Last week, I went in and tried it on one more time and ended up ordering the first dress I tried on in the first shop we went to! It is nice to be able to check that off the list and get working on the 14,000,000 other things that we have left to do. Last weekend, I worked on putting together our Save the Dates and we should be getting them out by the end of the month!!!

This picture was taken the day that I ordered my dress. Nicol has been such an amazing Sister/Maid of Honor through the somewhat excruciating process of trying on all of the wedding dresses. Thank you so much Cole...I love you!!!

Now what am I supposed to do?!?!?

So because I was thinking that getting the first dress I tried on at the first shop I went to seemed wrong, I decided to make appointments at a couple places to try on some more dresses. We went on Thursday of last week to try on the original dress at the Wedding Shoppe again and I still loved it. The original woman that helped us wasn't there that day to help us, so the experience was a little different. It is amazing how a sales person can make such a big difference!

On Saturday, my sister, my mom, Jason's mom, and I went to Bella Bridal and tried on some more dresses. Nicol must have schlepped 15 different dresses on and off of me in the course of our 90 minute appointment, some of them more than once!!! She has been GREAT!!!

My intention of going shopping was that it would make me feel 100% secure about the dress that I loved at the Wedding Shoppe. My plan backfired and I found two more dresses that I love! So now what am I supposed to do?!?!? I made an appointment to go to Rush's Bridal tomorrow evening and either I will find a dress that puts the other three contenders to shame or I will find more dresses to choose from...keep your fingers crossed for the first option!
